You’ve obviously got some problems with Christian exclusivism and I don't blame you for that. I have problems with it too, that I’m working through in my own journey.

That said, I believe you read into the text more than what it said. You have no idea what I believe about matters of salvation but, it would be fair to say that they are much broader than you are insinuating.

If you suppose that saying that “whoever” (meaning everyone) is welcome a the table of God, is someone hateful bigotry, then you’ve lost me. If you suppose that saying ANYONE is welcome at the table of God creates an “us vs them” mentality, then by all means explain how.

Or was your problem that I suggested that basic and simple belief in Christ is required for Christian faith? Why would it be appalling to suggest that Christianity requires belief in Christ as a basic requirement?

To say this is not the same thing as suggesting that those who don’t believe in Christ go to hell, by the way… but I think you went searching for that idea so that you could spout your anti-Christian rhetoric and justify your own name-calling.
