Well that depends if you read the Bible as a book of history, or a book of theology.

I consider the Bible to be man’s best attempt to explain the nature of God to us from a particular point in history. Therefore, It is mixed in with their own cultural understandings and biases. So, I take the Bible seriously, but I don’t take it literally. I read the Bible literarily, instead of literally.
