Tackling the difficult and confronting parts of the Bible is one of my personal hobbies so thank you for not including me in the group you call dishonest preachers.
I agree that modern sensibilities make what is in the Old Testament appear morally repugnant, but it seemed perfectly acceptable at the time. What things that seem perfectly acceptable now will be morally repugnant to our great grandchildren? We always perceive ourselves as more enlightened than previous generations without accounting for the fact that future generations will consider themselves more enlightened than us. We cringe a the past but don’t consider that the future will cringe at the present.
