Melodie, just because a Biblical scholar is a man, doesn't mean what he says is either sexist, or untrue. It's not the patriarch's theory. It's just the theory. If you like, I'll find a female scholar who supports the assertion if that makes you feel better. To repeat what hundreds of Biblical scholars have said about a particular Bible character does not constitute blowing a silent whistle as you say.
Far be it for me to stop you finding things to support your own biases, though. You take the text to mean whatever you think it does, even if it says nothing of the sort.
