Thanks for your thoughtful article. I agree that deep relationships require intentionality. The problem that I see in many churches is that we are not given the emotional safety to "go deep." When the church creates an environment - implicitly or explicitly - where sin management is the ultimate goal, and the social marker by which people find acceptance and belonging, it makes it very hard for people to truly open up and share their struggles, sins and pain.
